Trying to identify type (Art Nouveau?)and possible age of chairs

We have a set of 4 chairs - this arm chair and 3 armless chairs. We got them at auction years ago, but there was no info on them at the time - we just liked them and always thought that someday we would take them out of storage and refinish them. Can anybody help identify what we may have purchased?!

Before you mess with the finish, find out what you have. This may be a very collectable design; If so, it may be more valuable with its original finish. The design of the back and carvings on the legs indicate this is more than an average chair.

It's a very interesting take on gothic-influenced nouveau.
