Chamberstick Maker?

Posted by javaandjazz (My Page) on

I picked up this sphinx chamberstick at an antiques shop in Putnam, CT yesterday. Do you think it's deco or nouveau and any guess at the maker and age? There was one on ebay last week or so and they said egyptian revival 1880's. Not so sure about that.On the bottom are the numbers 8345. Thanks, Richie

Does it matter? It's great! Looks Egyptian Revival to me....but a rose by any other name....and that's a wonderful piece!
You'll never know for sure unless you can locate another in a catalog.
