I love this antiques forum! Does anyone know where I might find a similar forum for old paintings? I have a very fine painting (unsigned, sigh) handled by Alphonse Giroux, an 18th-19th century art dealer in Paris. I would like to find out anything I can. (Sorry for the glare across the center.)

Your best bet would be to take it to an Auction House that deals with fine art or an Antiques shop where someone can have a close look at it. Trying to value an unsigned painting over the internet is difficult at best. mfrog

I have a French lithograph which is named, and searched all over the net for any info, but no luck. I decided to send an email to Sotheby's, and even though they claimed to have had the same one in an auction years earlier, couldn't tell me anything about it. You might want to try that.
