I have what may be a Deacon's Bench but I'm not at all sure.
I need help identifying what it is, how old it is and it's value.

No answers for you but I love it! I think it would help if they could see bottom of bench seat , is it enclosed with black fabric or open with springs or straw, horsehair etc. Any nails or bolts, little pieces on each corner helping hold it firmly. I think construction might yield more clues than looking at front of it. The leather or vinyl may be replacement for fabric long ago. Close-up of finishing tacks might give a hint to age also. Maybe someone has identical 1 so keep coming back & hopefully you'll get answers. Enjoy your bench!

I have more photos, some with greater detail of the seat bottom and joints. I don't know, however, how to post more than one of them here. How can I get these detailed pictures from my computer file to your eyes?

Here's another photo of the bottom. There is wood wool used for stuffing, there are coil springs, there is twine, there is burlap and the corners are solidly braced. There is wide webbing directly beneath the black fabric material finishing the bottom.
