What's the thing that looks like a cooley hat? Coiled basket? Wood? Leather??

I have a big round gourd on a stand with looks like skin done facy on it,not alot,Hubby was hunting in I think New Mexico it could have been colorado not sure the men went to these Indian women that were selling thier wares,I also go 2 fancy crocks,jugs they painted wove hide in them beautiful.

The long jugs may have been used to carry liquids and/or seeds. The basket appears to be a general purpose storage basket. It has a matching lid that can be secured indicating that it could have been used to transport food gains while traveling, and to keep stored contents from accidental apill.

If you have access to a professional botanist, he/she may be able to identify the plant material and that would give a clue to origin.
