Need advice on 1942 Lane Chest

I recently acquired this chest. I would like to refinish it as you can see from the picture that it has some scratches and wear on the surface. Any advice on how to do this job without damaging the chest would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has any idea of a value range I would be interested, though I plan to keep the chest and cherish it.

I would wipe the chest down with a paper towel saturated with a mixture of 2/3 shellac thinner and 1/3 lacquer thinner....sop it on and wipe it off.
Your chest has a lot of veneer, so you will have to be very careful not to damage that with a conventional stripper.

I may have the same chest, but it's good condition. It still has it's original papers with it, bought in Danville, VA., where my family is from. It was my grandmother's.

No clue on what the chests are worth though, but I doubt not much since they made so many back then.

Mine's all lined in veneer so I would get a professional to do it unless you know how.

They're beautiful, aren't they?
