A picture woulkd help....
But generally speaking....very generally...the words Made in USA usually indicate items made in the latter part of the 19th century to the very early part of the 20th century.

Probably 1920's....there was a resugrance in pewter stuff then.....and again in the early 1950's.

My daughter has a set of Crown Castle plates. They are very similar to Wilton Armetale's Country French pattern with a matte finish.

I don't think they're true pewter, but rather an aluminum alloy as is Wilton Armetale.

At any rate, she was afraid to use them because of the possibility of toxins contaminating the food, but it's been fine.

A table set with these plates is truly impressive. Congrats on a beautiful collection.

Crown-Castle Ltd is (was) out of Stanford, CT. They sold nice reproductions. I have a small catalog from the 70's with your plates on the front cover. I purchased 1776 repro flatware, which I have and am still very happy with.
If you would like to share your email address, I can forward you a picture of the front of the brochure advertising your plates. The are not pewter, they are pewtalloy metal and sold for $22.95 fir a 16 piece set.

hello i bought a set at an estate sale. it consist of 6 cups,7 small plates and 8 big plates.

I hve a set of crown castle ltd...8 dinner plates..and 8 desert size plates and one mug style cup.... I'm curious to know basiclly what they're worth ...any infi??

The photo looks exactly like the set of brand new Crown Castle dinner ware in the 1970's. They are reproduction pewter with another metal mixed, but I cannot recall what the other metal is. I just know that it was supposed to make them easier to clean than regular pewter. The set is serving for 8 - dinner plates, dessert plates, a platter, and tankards.

I know this is a very old thread, but my husband just bought me a set of these from an antique shop bc I loved them. should i avoid the dishwasher and microwave? not sure how to care for them.

No dishwasher.....and certainly no microwave, they are metal and will cause arcing! Hand wash.

Does anyone know if they are safe to off of? My husband and I recently purchased a set from an antique store, but they have a slight "dusty" or "tarnished" texture to them. This is after washing them with dawn dish soap. Thanks!

Probably not, especially if they are dark grey. Modern, almost lead-free pewter is very light and silvery in appearance, but antique pewter has a high lead content.

Is there any way to test the Lead content? I just got a set from my neighbor that did not want them anymore. Thank you
