Approximately 1870 lady's rocker, sometimes called a sewing rocker. Is it walnut?

Hello, thanks for the info, I do have some minor woodworking experience but wanted to ask around a little and yes I do believe this is walnut. Also worth noting the cane work can also be seen on the back( I will try posting another pic to show that),I thought I heard somewhere this usually means it was done by hand and not at a factory but I do not know enough about rocking chairs to say for sure if this is the case.

Yes, that's handwoven cane. It looks pretty bright and in good shape, so the rocker has probably been re-caned in the relatively recent past. Cane has a limited life, especially if the chair is actually being used, so a chair as old as this might have been re-caned several times.
