How to fix faded finish on antique walnut table?

Being given another table that needs TLC had made me look more carefully at the ones I already have.

This table has been in my family for at least 3 generations. My Dad was born in 1907 and he said he thought he remembered it from his childhood. If anyone knows more about this style, please tell me. It has been a favorite of mine since I was small enough to fit inside the legs, hole up underneath it, and play. (Or maybe it was self defense, with a big brother around?!)

It has never been refinished. The wood on the top looks somewhat faded, or maybe it is dry. There are light patches that have a grey cast. I have tried using lemon oil, but it returns to looking like this again very quickly.

I have a product I bought for another piece, called Howard's Feed and Wax. Someone on here recommended it to me for something, but I have forgotten what applications it is best for. I have never tried it. Has anyone used this product? If it really IS dry, maybe the wax would seal in the oil.

Thank you.
