Total eclipse 2017....are you making plans?

This is going to be a special solar eclipse for the US, with several states laying in the path of totality. If you haven't thought about trying to experience a total solar eclipse, please reconsider, it's an awesome, spine tingling experience. I was just 18 years old when some friends and I traveled all the way from NY to the coast of Virginia to witness an eclipse in 1970. I'll never forget it!

Our plan is to make a day trip out of the event and travel to an off the beaten path location in Tennessee. I ordered our eclipse glasses today!

Here's a fun website that briefly explains the when and where to go in each state expected to be in the path.

Is anyone else making plans?

Yes, I am planning to at least make a day trip of it for my birthday! Haven't decided exactly where to go, the path will be roughly a 5-6 hour drive to KY or TN, I think, if I stick to major roads, but longer if I try to get to a more remote area

Where I live in north Missouri is very close to what they call the Centerline. So I guess it's going to be hard for me to miss!

Yes, I am planning on creating a special eclipse drink and offering to my neighbors. We won't be able to see much, either with or without the drink - but what the heck.

An eclipse cocktail sounds like fun; I'm going to have to work on that. We are thinking about a mid-summer gathering that weekend, and the eclipse would be a great theme.
