Clarisonic

I received one as a gift for Mother's Day. Love it! Love it!

Past 60, have lines to prove it & have wanted to get something that does everything from cleaning all pores/reducing some, reducing "bumps" & refining some of those lines. Not asking much...Lord, sounds like I'm really dreaming about 20 year old face replacement...LOL. That 30% off is mighty appealing. Always thought I'd just get cleansing features but see they have Smart Profile Uplift that claims to reduce "15 signs of aging" as if I have to be reminded but "decolletage radiance" is the least of my worries. :-) In your experience is this just hype or something useful with strict usage adherence? Will you please tell me which exact device(s) you use, Lindsey, Hounds and Adellabedella? I took their little survey to find out what I should use (68 y/o w/dry skin) and its certainly more money than I expected (!) and then they (of course) recommend 2 additional accessories but I am thinking about it since it is 30% off. Thank you Lindsey.

EDITED - I just ordered the Mia 2 - seemed like the thing for me! I realized after reading again that the expensive one ($300+) that they recommended was the full Monty with all the anti aging bells and whistles and well, I'll just try to keep on aging gracefully LOL. But I am hoping to get rid of some dry flakey skin that I can't seem to make happen no matter what I exfoliate with.

Janie, the Mia 2 is fine. That is what I have. I've had mine for over a year and I've barely replaced the original head it came with and that was only because I was trying to pad my Macy's order to get free shipping. I know they say to replace the head like ever 3 months or something like that but my guess is they are just trying to make money. I'm going to have son use my old head (after I disinfect it) and see if it helps with his acne.

I had the Oil of Olay spinning brush and went to the clarisonic which vibrates, doesn't spin. That took a little getting used to but I LOVE mine, I use it every morning in the shower. I will also turn it back on after the timer runs out after washing my face and then do my neck, chest, shoulders. Hope you love yours as much as other do.

And especially since I realized that I don't have to spend $349 LOL but with the 30% off I paid $127 for Mia. I appreciate your comments.

I love my Clarisonic! I only use it about three times a week. Rarely change the brush heads, mine is at least three years old.

I use mine a couple times a week. I change the brush head about 3 times a year. I typically use Olay Foaming Face Wash or Neutrogena's Pore Refining exfoliating cleanser.

When flakey skin becomes an issue, I use Origins Modern Friction.

Hi, folks! Glad my post might be helping some of you. :-)

My first purchase was the Mia 2. Mine is pink. I didn't realize at the time I bought it that the pink and the purple came with the "Sensitive" brush head and the white and "sea breeze" (turquoise) color came with the "Radiance" brush head. Now it looks like only the pink comes with the Sensitive brush head and the other three come with the Radiance brush head.

There IS a page where you can compare all of the brush heads to find out what they're good for, and which devices they are compatible with. As far as I can recall, all of the facial brushes are good with every device, but the body and pedi brush heads can only be used with the Smart Profile and the Smart Profile Uplift devices. And I've ordered other brush heads to use with my Mia 2, so it doesn't really matter which brush head yours comes with if you really want a particular color.

MissMyGardens -- The Firming Massage Head is not compatible with the Mia, Mia 2, or with the Mia Fit, but it is compatible with the Smart Profile and the Smart Profile Uplift. The Smart Profile Uplift is the one that's $349 (but $105 taken off today only), and Clarisonic itself no longer offers the Smart Profile. BUT, you can do what I did and get the Smart Profile for $185 on QVC.

The only difference I can ascertain between the Smart Profile and the Smart Profile Uplift is that with the Uplift, you can "toggle between the Smart and Manual" modes. But both devices have a manual mode. The manual mode is a "smart override" and gives a 3-minute full body cleansing cycle and you can manually adjust the speeds. The "smart" mode when used with the body brush head cycles through three stages -- (1) 30 seconds foaming massage - pulsating; (2) 2 minutes continuous full body cleanse, and (3) 30 seconds of finishing massage - pulsating. I do know that the firming massage head can be used on both devices, as well as all of the body and pedi attachments and all of the facial brush heads.

I, too, am over 60 (I'll be 68 in August) but I inherited my mother's good Irish skin (as far as extremely minimal amount of tiny wrinkles), so I don't need the firming massage head. But I wanted to be able to use the body brush (which also has massage) for all-over exfoliation as well as the Pedi smoothing disk and wet/dry buff head, which is why I bought the Smart Profile. I suppose I could have just gotten the Smart Profile and been done with it (and saved the $169 I spent on the Mia 2), but the Mia 2 purchased from Clarisonic also came with a nifty little travel case (that can be purchased as a separate accessory), so I thought that would be handy to take with me when we go on little getaways. Because of our cat, we don't go away for more than two nights at a time, and I figure I can go without the body and pedi stuff for two days. LOL!

The Clarisonic website has a page that shows you all of their authorized resellers -- the ones with brick & mortar stores only, brick & mortar and website, and website only. If you buy directly from Clarisonic or from one of their authorized resellers, you can register your device on the Clarisonic web site - which activates the warranty - and get $25 off a future purchase (like a replacement brush head or other accessory). My thoughts/comments about replacing the brush heads every three months....

I think there are a lot of folks who don't properly follow the directions for cleaning their brush heads, and I think that Clarisonic is doing sort of a Cover Your A-- type of thing with the recommendations for replacements. They don't want anyone to develop problems with their skin because of a dirty brush head. I know the advertising is that the brush heads will clean the makeup off your face so much better than just using your hands or a washcloth. But, I don't use my Clarisonic to remove my foundation/blush -- I still use a washcloth with soap and water. Then, once my makeup has been removed, I use the Clarisonic with a liquid cleanser. Doing it this way just makes sense to me because the Clarisonic has a timer -- 20 seconds to do your forehead, 20 seconds to do your nose and chin, 10 seconds for one cheek, and 10 seconds for the other cheek. Always1StepBehind said that she turns her Clarisonic on again because she wants more time than the timer gives her. The way the device knows when to signal that it's time to use a new brush head is from the number of cycles a brush head has been used. They figure twice a day use (morning and night) for three months is all you should get before changing to a new brush head.

Also, no matter whether you use your brush head to clean off your makeup or just to further clean your face after your makeup has been removed, every few days you should remove the brush head and clean underneath it and clean the device where the head attaches because it remains wet under there and gunk can build up.

Oh, I just saw something that says Clarisonic recommends using a new brush head every three months because the brush bristles wear down and aren't as effective.
