I got a message to reply and I'll be entered to win prizes!! ENTERED to win prizes. I don't get the prize, just a chance to enter. Did everyone get an invitation like that?

I was invited but I never give my mailing address to anyone on a social site. I made that mistake years ago with someone from the gardenweb, and was harassed for months, and fearful of being stalked.

For those of you who participated, let us know what you receive! I'm sure that it will be fun.

I got it and replied. I don't see a problem with having my mailing list "out there". It's readily available all over the internet, in phone books, on my mailbox ... everywhere! I don't understand how providing a mailing address in an email is opening one up to an issue.

However, I respect anyone's right to not do so.

pkponder, actually, for the record, this didn't begin as a subscription. but did later in order for Spike to be able to keep it going. It was $10 at first, then went to $15. Worth every penny of it. I paid, but chose not to get the t shirt.

I worked for a company that was involved in getting the WWW up and running back in the early 80s. Had email before most people even knew what it was and have had a big presence in may different forums, web sites, list-serves, social media and such over the years and have never had a problem with stalkers or ID theft. But ... I'm careful and smart about what I open, who I give my info and who I subscribe to.

But watch out! THS/GardenWeb/Houzz ... is a dangerous place! Stay away from all free give-aways and contests ... because ...

I want a better chance of winning! :-)

Seriously, I don't feel there is any risk in entering the THS/GW/Houzz give-away if selected.

I got mine today too! I'm not sure what I will do but have some trust in Tamara.

I wonder if there is a common thread on the selection criteria. The email indicated "Weve randomly selected a handful of loyal GardenWeb users..." which makes me wonder if our join date was considered. The number of my posts certainly would not qualify me! I post so little....

Hi luv mkitchen,

I wouldn't know what to do with a keychain ... as I have one of those Chevies ("Cobalt" model) whose owners were told to take *everything* off of their key, as it might (fall out of the slot?) and the car would stall, sometimes causing a lot of trouble. Until they could get replacement materials in place.

Mine's still going.

Got mine today, but I only got the handwritten note and the tape measure. That's ok, though, cuz I certainly don't need another water bottle that I won't use. The tape measure is small enough to keep in my purse (although the tape measure is a heavy one!).

Well, that was a wasted trip! It's +20 but the wind made it feel cold. And I'm used to having insulated coveralls on. I ran out without them.
