happy thanksgiving!!

quiltpartnerNovember 22, 2010

I'm free of little ones most of the week, so am trying to get a million & one things done - or at least get to working on some that I've left lay dormant for awhile!:)

Today I'm finishing up a heartbreaker quilt. A man who graduated from school the yr before me is in stage 4 cancer. His family/friends are having a benefit (for medical expenses) Dec 12 & I've made a quilt for the silent auction. It's been a little emotional working on it. We weren't close back then, or since really, but it just brings to mind just how mortal we all are. As I get older & have lost more & more family & friends, it's harder. Just don't like the idea of missing times w/all the ones I love. Makes me wish I could slow down the clock for all of us! & grab every second we're given. It's even harder when I think of wasted opportunities & the ridiculous things that can drive a wedge between our families & friends.

Sorry, didn't mean to wander...:)

Before things get crazy (again!:( lol) I'm wishing each of you an extra blessed Thanksgiving this year! I'm fairly certain that we all will have ample food on our tables & be able to eat it in a warm & comfortable home. Let's keep in mind that not everyone is so fortunate. Many of us are no longer in the best of health, but we are still able to get around & do most of the things we need to do --- & even many of the things we WANT to do! :) And may we all send up an extra prayer of thanks for each of the loved ones around us, & all the many blessing we have. While I try hard, I still don't always have an attitude of gratitude for all the good things in my life. I suppose that's just human nature -- but I can still keep trying to improve!

I hope each of you are spending time this week w/people you love --- & take the opportunity to tell them so. Our 2 DDs will not be home this year & it will be doubly hard w/out them. But that just means our DS/DDIL & 2 DGS get triple the hugs & attention!! That won't be all bad:)

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving all!!!

*And remember, no calories or carbs are counted on Thurs!! It's an extra gift we get early for Christmas this year!!! (Santa told me!!!)

Happy Thanksgiving Cindy. You are so right, we are blessed. There are many who are not. Please remember them this week and do something good for someone.

Happy Thanksgiving to you Cindy and everyone here!

A timely joke:

You may have heard this one before, however it's appropriate for this time of year.

BAD Parrot
A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The
parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.

Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious
and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to
change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only
polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could
think of to 'clean up' the bird's vocabulary.

Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot.
The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the
parrot got angrier and even more rude. John, in desperation,
threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the
freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked
and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute.

Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened
the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out
onto John's outstretched arms and said "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude.

As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a
dramatic change in his behavior, the bird spoke-up, very softly,

"May I ask what the turkey did?"

HAPPY THANKSGIVING
