edgebanding - need to do all edges that faces front?

huangoOctober 2, 2012

When using edgebanding (so that the lighter innards doesn't highlight the gaps on dark cabinet doors), do you edgeband ALL edges that faces forwards?

What did your cabinet maker do (if you have mdf boxes and full overlay doors)?

I am also posting on Ikeafans.

So I have Ikea Ramsjo black-brown cabinet doors w/ birch boxes. With just a 12" base pull-out cabinet as example, do I edgeband all 4 sides of the BOX (that the blk-brn door touches)?

I've seen on Ikeafans where the inner shelvings were edgebanded.

(We've just put together 6 of the Ramsjo white cabinets. Trying to figure out how much of the 15 black-brown cabinets require edgebanding to know how much edgebanding to purchase. Edgebanding Option from Fastcap jumps from 50ft to 250ft.)

Thank you very much for any help.

I would do all front edges and while they don't show it would probably look better (when the cabinet is open) to do the front edges of the shelves so they match the cabinet edges.
