Slightly OT--bamboo kitchen utensil holders

sjerinOctober 28, 2012

There seem to be a LOT of kitchen supplies made of bamboo these days, holders for all manner of utensils. I've looked around the web for info on the glues used to see if they're loaded with formaldehyde or other voc's and cannot find anything. Would anyone here have any knowledge on the subject?

Hi sjerin,

Not sure how helpful this will be, but you may want to research the chemicals used in those really soft bamboo blankets. I know there's info online about that, and maybe it'll lead you to some info on the cooking utensils.

Thanks for the heads-up, Madeline. Why is it so difficult to find the answer?? I'm afraid I'm pretty cynical these days about substances used in manufacturing as it seems that until there is a problem proven, anything goes. (Bpa in plastic ware.)
