What wood species area these cabinets?

olivesmomSeptember 9, 2013

Just wondering if anyone can what these cabinets are made of. Not cherry- too light, right? But they don't look like maple to me either. Douglas Fir? I believe they are about 4-5 years old. Thanks in advance!

The back of the peninsula looks more like cherry, though.

It looks like a natural finish on red Alder to me - not knotty Alder, just Alder.

EAM44: I think you may be right. Maybe alder. The stripe sort of look makes me think that they aren't maple. Could they be hickory?
