granite color with alder cabinets and a distressed black island

rjdaySeptember 26, 2012

We have distressed alder kitchen cabinets in the UP of Michigan cottage with a distressed black island. We are considering Lido Granite with the Alder and Natueno Gold granite on the black island. The Nauueno has the look of a birch tree trunk running thru it which is very cool. Has anyone used any of these granites? The Natueno is very expensive and would welcome an alternative. Thanks for all the help.

get some bally block for at least the island .perhaps corian or even formica for the other areas. Our place in Charlevoix County can take hours to warm up after the overnite low temps[yes even on some summer days]...touching that cold granite would be un-cottagey....think warmer surface-you are really far North.

Where is Up North Michigan? We all go there but can't find on a map! Standard Michigan joke but couldn't resist :-).
Being more serious- if the granite warms up, will it help keep the room warm.
Hopefully someone will have a picture for you.

Never thought of that all these years.
It sounds beautiful, but I agree, probably cold.
Do you use this place year round?
If not, it could be just fine.

We used to summer in Charlevoix. Still think of the Weathervane burgers and Murdick's fudge...
But those counter tops were butcher block.
