Should the available area for backsplash determine tile size?

bcafeSeptember 11, 2012

We are looking at different tiles for our backsplash. We really have very little to tile due to appliance placement and overall lack of space. 6x12's grab DH's eye and I really don't have a preference. So, would you GW folks use smaller, larger, or no preference for a small kitchen?

A picture of your space would be helpful.
We too have a small kitchen, but have 18 linear feet of backsplash.
We went with 3x6 subways.
6x12's are pretty big and will give a more modern appearance if that's what you're after.
Keep in mind that tiling the backsplash is not essential.
You may want to complete your project and live with it for a while before deciding on your backsplash design.
