Deep Fryer - filtering material

icefoxSeptember 11, 2012

I am not able to find an answer to my question on the Internet, so I would like to ask

Please, I have a deep fryer that I am not able to reorder the filters for a reasonable price anymore. It is an older model and the filter pricing went up quiet bit.

I research the Internet and found possibly suitable filtering sheets to cut the filters out of them by myself.

The material I need is oil-vapor filter about 1/16" thick and charcoal filter about 3/16" thick.

I am wondering if anyone tried to make their own filters for the deep fryers to save money and what material they used. Below is a listing of material I think could be used.

I found these sheets:

POLYFIBER FILTER PAD (HBH Cut to Fit Filter Pads) @

Cut-to-Fit Foam Pre-filter Air Cleaner Replacement Filter @

Cut-to-fit Carbon for Air Purifiers @

3M Filtrete Air Conditioner Filter, 15-Inch by 24-Inch (9808-12) @

HBH Enterprises Cut your own Carbon Filter Pad 10x18in @

HBH Cut-To-Fit Polytech Pad @

Thank you in advance for any help or suggestion.

We have the charcoal filter and I just washed it out with soap I think. The other filter, I have used a coffee filter.

Thank you deb, how often do you replace the coffee filters? I assume after each frying?
I did wash the charcoal filter in the dishwasher, however it still stinks from the grease and it is about half the thickness now. So I will have to find a replacement for that.
