ok to put insulation in ceiling with cree cr7s?

Our master bedroom is above our kitchen. We are using existing 6" cans with CREE CR7 inserts. Can we put insulation in the ceiling? Do LEDs get hot? Should we leave space between the light and insulation?

We just want to eliminate noise in our bedroom.

The Cree are just the inserts. The housing type determines if you can insulate above it. You need IC (insulation contact) ones if you want to insulate above them. If you are doing recessed in a space with an attic above, you want Insulation Contact Air Tight housings for those.

Ugh. It's to an attic above. It's a regular full 2nd story on a house. Is there something to look for to tell if the cans are rated for insulation? These cans are 20+ years old.
