The kitchen is in the middle of the house and not big. Would it better to have tile or hardwood floor there?
Any suggestion of sharing of experience is greatly appreciated.
I am really happy with my Marmoleum floor. I didn't want wood (wouldn't work with our style home) nor tile, because I find hard floors really tiring when I'm cooking and cleaning.
We installed sheet Marmoleum with a 3 mm underlayment of cork over our slab foundation and I LOVE it. People who come into our kitchen remark about the wonderful look and feel of our floor and I agree with them completely.
I think cork is ideal for kitchens.
I have, and love, my wood which goes throughout the house. Tile is much too hard on the cook, and anything that drops (it wasn't just the shattering, it was the shattering and spreading over a large area that I hated).
If there aren't a lot of square feet, the price difference of materials won't matter much. Enjoy choosing something of high quality, beauty, and comfort!
I love my new cork! We have glue down because it's the kitchen. It's nice to walk on. Even DH loves it.
