looking for stainless sink with integrated drainboard

carolmlJune 25, 2012

I am looking for a stainless steel single bowl sink with an integrated drain board. The drain board is shallow enough to go over the dishwasher. I saw it in a magazine but no credits given. Any suggestions?

Could it be one of these from Home Depot?

In my last kitchen I had an Elkay gourmet stainless double bowl drop in sink with a drainboard. I loved it. I don't understand why they are not more popular. As I have been collecting things for this kitchen reno I started looking for the same sink and was put off by the cost; over $1000! I ended up finding one on craigslist for $125! People putting in granite usually get rid of the drop-ins for undermounts. Anyway these are the companies I found who had stainless steel drop-ins with drainboard (double bowl, but I'm thinking they probably have singles as well): Elkay (Gourmet), Franke (Mythos), Kindred (KCWD6016R-9), Ikea (BOHOLMEN), Blanco (Precision).

Check Oliveri ... they have a really nice selection of drainboard sinks...that's who we got...made in Australia of all places.

With an under-mount a drain board is not all that important.

Ikea makes a number of these in different configurations, their Boholmen series:

Thank you everyone. The photo I saw was a zero radius, undermount, quite modern and slick. I think it might be Blanco, as I just saw a similar one on their website.
I'm not surprised that Australia makes them - they do a lot of stainless steel counter/sink combos.
I may do runnels in the granite - just exploring all the options at this point.
Thanks again.

Ruth_123 Yes, only one sink. I tend to hand wash pots, knives, big bowls, etc. and leave them to drip. This would contain the mess without having a second bowl.

brickeyee, I don't understand your comment... ours is an undermount with a built in drainboard.

Hi Laura12, I'm not sure if you were asking me, but here is the link to the double Blanco sink in my previous link.

Ruth_123 Thank you. I think the single bowl one may be the one I saw. I had planned on a silgranit sink, but none of the colours look very good with my counter.
mulemom & bmorepanic - I'll check out the various brands you suggest. Thanks.

"I don't understand your comment... ours is an undermount with a built in drainboard."

You must have counter space to waste then.

The drainboard has pretty much a single function.

With an underground sink you can just wipe any water into the sink, and preserve the counter area for other uses.
