Troy-Built Home Generators

TimLintzDecember 27, 2013

With the recent power outage in Michigan I had to run my Troy-Built Generator (7500 watt). I have had this generator for a few years but have had to have it repaired at least three times with various component failures and durring this latest storm it failed again. It was not running near its capacity. I had to borrow a generator from a friend to get me through the week. I have had nothing but problems with this brand generator and wanted to let others know.

Thanks. I have a Tecumseh powered Honda and a Honda powered Honda and I haven't had any problems other than rebuilding the carbs after 10 years in each of them.

They do make nice snow blowers though.

Thanks for the tip. I just got my first Honda and I really love it. My old generator was a Lincoln Weldanpower and I never had a problem with it either except is was very loud and only held a couple hours worth of fuel. Sure welded nice tho.

Tim, thanks for the info. I see that the 7k model Troy Bilt is a leader Consumer Reports; I rather take the recommendation of users as to testers. I have a 5000W Craftsman that is about 10yrs old - had a glitche in the early times, but very reliable since then. Up in the Northern States - you folks really need reliable generators. Ron
