Question about disconnecting power to stove

catherinetDecember 23, 2009

Hi all,

I hope this is the right place for this.

I have a GE electric element stove that intermittently puts up a "F2" code, which means something is probably funky with the temperature sensor. One thing it says to do is to disconnect power to the stove and then reconnect.

Since the power cord is hard to reach, can I just turn off the circuit breaker to it, and it would have the same effect to the internal programming of the stove?

Yes, shutting off the breaker would have the same effect as unplugging it. If the problem persists, post on the appliance forum, too. Someone there might be in a better position to offer a solution.
