oven on 15amp switch

pbishopNovember 20, 2010

I have an gas oven on a 15amp circuit and I want to move it to a 15amp circuit with 6 recessed lights on it. I think I have move then enough wattage left but I don't have the manual for the oven so I'm not sure.

If I'm correct the gas oven only has a heating element that draws power.

Thanks in advance

"If I'm correct the gas oven only has a heating element that draws power. "

Usually the only electric items are spark ignitors, glow-plug ignitors for ovens, and clocks or timers.

The name plate for the oven (look on the edge of the door opening) will list its power use.

Some gas oven have an supplemental electric element or a electrically heated warming drawer. As Brickeyee said you look at the name plate or check the owners manual for electrical requirements.
