Mounting block & plate on Cedar Shake Shingles?

pbx2_gwNovember 19, 2013

My electrician put on some dusk to dawn light fixtures yesterday on the shingles part of the exterior wall of on our garage.

He used a something like the link below which made the light protrude (due to the box behind the plate & not flush against the Hardiplank cement shake shingles.

Are there any other solutions to make it flush against the shingle siding?

Here is a link that might be useful: Undesired mounting plate & block

You have two options: get a mounting plate that conforms to the siding OR cut the siding around the mourning plate.
