GFCI outlet status light

If the neutral was removed or intermittent on a GFCI outlet would the green status light be out or would it appear as red like when the device is tripped?

If the neutral was removed from the line side, then there wouldn't be a complete circuit, so there would be no way to power a light of any colour.
