Adding a flood light

paco6945October 17, 2010

I've got an outdoor floodlight (150W) that is connected to a single 20 amp breaker. I want to add 2 more flood lights, with a separate switch to control the new lights.

Is there any problem with doing this? And would I just run the wire for the new floods out of the existing junction box?

Done correctly, there is no problem with what you propose, providing the 'existing junction box' has an 'always hot' lead (i.e. one that is not controled by a switch) as well as a neutral and a ground.

just be sure you use 12/2g for the wiring. i would reccomend 12/3g for a loop switch with the neu capped.
