Reviving 60s Dining Room Furniture

memphisnateNovember 24, 2013

I purchased this new-to-me 60s dining room set and I'm wanting to clean/fix it up.

I'd prefer to fix up the existing finish to make it respectable looking. I've tried Howards Restor-a-Finish in Maple/Pine and it didn't help the worn spots on the arms.

We also sanded one of the leaves and one beat up chair to see what was beneath and we found out the tabletop and backs of the chairs have a finish on top of a walnut? veneer. The rest of the legs, arms are another type of wood with the same type finish.

Any advice, thoughts on the finish and what I might do to spruce it up?

Below are a few pics...
