Shelving-Help Please

firsttimebldrNovember 7, 2007

I have an opening in our closet (boards on each side) that I want to put shelves in. Shelves will be 10w x 24l. I would like to drill holes and put those shelf supports in the holes and put shelves on top of supports. My question is this. What is the best way to mark for the holes so they are all in the right place? TIA. Betsy.

Find a scrap of pegboard and mark the places where you want holes with sharpie, masking tape or whatever. Tack the pegboard into position, i.e., level front to back. Drill through the pegboard holes. Then move the pegboard to the opposite side and repeat. If your floor is reasonably level, measure up to the bottom hole and set the location. Otherwise use a level to line up the holes across from each other.
