blocking out afternoon sun
We are in the design stage and thinking about windows. House will be in the Southeast, and the back of the house will face water and the west. It will get toasty on sunny summer afternoons. Which works best to keep the house cool--fabric window treatments like Hunter Douglas Duettes or glass with Sun Defense or Sunsense (or another catchy name)? We don't know whether to pay for the most "sunblock" in the glass, or pay for fabric window treatments. Or will using both be even better in keeping the heat of the sun out of the back of the house? In case this is more of a decorating question, I'll post over there, too. I appreciate all opinions on this board.
