creative storm windows?

cakequeenDecember 11, 2009

I have some old wood arched shaped window sashes that were removed from elsewhere in my home. I am wondering if I might add them to the inside of my basement where there are identical windows as a sort of storm window/sound barrier. They might help with noise, thermal insulation and even security if I can lock them w/ a bolt. Would they be too thick to use? My wall and sill plates could be built out some. Any thoughts on this idea?

Sure, why not? Really it depends on how handy you are or if you know someone handy to install them for you.

Yes, I can find someone to do it. Just wanted to make sure the effort made sense. Nothing like doing something 'creative' to find out I've just made a mess of things, spent a bunch to accommodate my 'idea' and find that the problems aren't solved. Been there, LOL!
