what are you going to do with the gaps around the window frame if they are bigger than 0.25" and smaller than 0.5"? use good stuff or just silicone sealant or ...? I am replacing my basement windows with vinyl windows. the basement is poured concrete.

That's a large enough gap for foam. Great stuff or hilti .

Make sure you use the lower expanding foam for windows.
The high expansion foam can exert enough force to bend a widow casing and interfere with the window's operation

Low expansion foam, sealant, or sealant and backer rod combo.

If the gaps are approaching 1/2" I would definitely use backer rod in addition to minimal expanding foam.
