How to install stationary interior window?

jlc102482November 12, 2012

I have a stained glass window that I want to install above an interior doorway. It is not an operable window, it's just stained panes of glass set into a wood frame. Basically I need to know how to cut an opening above the doorway to accommodate the window, and how to frame the opening so it's secure. I haven't been able to find any online instructions. Can anyone advise? Thanks!

Pictures of the home (both interior and exterior) will help a bunch.

Also, might be worth contracting this out as you are going to be messing some structure and if you are asking, that might be a good indication that this work is beyond the DIY level at this point.

You can certainly do it as it is not rocket science by any stretch, just might be a good idea to pay someone who has done it.
