Waterlox Users

I have a table top that has an oil based stain only on it.

I have the Waterlox Sealer/Finish.

Question is, if I put the Waterlox Sealer/Finish on the stained table top, is there any reason a different brand of satin topcoat couldn't be used over the Waterlox?

If an off brand would work, would I still use three coats of the sealer?

If not, I just won't use the Waterlox.

Thanks for the advice!

Waterlox IS a sealer. If the goal is a waterproof, repairable finish, use 3 or more coats of Waterlox.

If you want Satin finish, add the final coat or two of Waterlox Satin.

If you use another brand, just skip the Waterloc and use several coats of a good urethane satin finish. General finishes gel topcoat is one good one, and very easy to apply.
