okay ive removed 80 years of paint off this amish table...on the top part looks to be a burn from one of those old cast iron irons can i sand this off I want to keep it with its natural wood...
It probably was painted "after" the burn. You might be able to sand it out. It depends on how deep the burn is.
Is the top a veneer ? if it is you will burn right thru while trying to sand it out.
If it's solid you might have better luck. be aware that if the burn is deep your going to create an uneveness to the table top. Meaning your going to sand off alot of wood in and around the burn and not anywhere else.
You'll need to sort of feather the area around the burn as to not create low spot in the burn area.
