Older "leaded/clear" windows

loves2readSeptember 10, 2012

The house we bought in '83 has fixed aluminum frame leaded windowws--not stained but sort of textured/waves--in front bathroom...two smaller and one about 3x3...

The seals around the lead failed and water came in.mthere is accumulation of hard water or other staining on the windows and the framing...

We don't live in house now---have rented it out for past 3 yrs. But now are putting it on market...don't want to replace these but need to clean them up...

Any suggestions?

Windows with lead came are puttied on the came to make them weather tight.

Around every little piece of glass.
The putty is packed in, then any visible excess removed (small wood or plastic scrapers work well here).
