Faded Vinyl Shutters

lynn_vaSeptember 2, 2012

Our house is 9 years old and the dark green vinyl shutters are faded in many spots. I have read about some products that are supposed to improve the appearance of faded shutters. As the shutters are 9 years old, can they be spiffed up or should we replace them?

I have read that some folks paint over vinyl. However, the house is powerwashed twice a year - and I don't think the paint would stand up to powerwashing - and I can't see my my husband taking them down and putting them back up for power washing.

Thank you,

Lynn

You would have to try spiffing them up to find out.You couldproperly prep them and paint them with a higher quality spray paint by Rustoleum, Valspar ect. This would hold up to pressure washing as long as you did not get real close or hit it with a zero degree tip.

Paint them, and make sure the power washer guy knows to not blast them. His solution may be accelerating the fade.
