Reliant tools

john02139May 15, 2012

I am shopping for a used band saw and see the reliant brand regularly but can't seem to find a home page for them. Are they owned by another company? What is their history? Are replacement parts going to be difficult to come by? Are they a respected brand? Any comments appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Incidentally, let me know if you know of a 14" band saw in the Boston area. Over 1 hp and capable of resawing desired.

Found this info, hope it helps.

As you probably know, Reliant was the brand name of tools made for Trend-Lines, Inc. that became Woodworkers Warehouse who went out of business in 2003.

The name rung a bell and millworkman nailed it. It's been years since I was in a Woodworkers Warehouse but I don't recall being particularly impressed with their house brand of tools.

I think you'd be better off finding a used Delta or Jet.

Woodworker's Supply will at least try to supply parts.

They may have purchased up the NOS from Trend-Lines and Woodworkers Warehouse.
