MC Lite vs AC

poobalooMarch 19, 2013

I was looking at two similar products today...

Why would someone prefer MC Lite vs AC-90 cable or vice versa? I see the MC has a full ground wire inside whereas the AC has just the little strip that maintains contact w the inside of the armor...

Are there cases where one is allowed but the other not?

MC lite is a bit cheaper and can be used in a few more esoteric locations including classified locations and aerial on a messenger. etc... as well as wet locations

I like MC but call me belt and suspenders when it comes to an actual ground wire vs. a bonding strip. The aluminum jacket is a lot easier to get through too, especially if you don't want to invest in a Roto-Strip.

On the flip side, if you're working with small boxes the lack of ground wires can make things a bit easier.
