Cabinet repair advice please

Kim_From_MariettaApril 6, 2011

Hi,

We have recently purchased a foreclosure home, and we would like any tips on fixing the nicks, scrapes, scratches, and gouges on the nice new kitchen cabinets.

The cabinets are wood with a medium cherry finish. We are not experienced with this type of repair, and we are afraid of making it look worse. What is the best way to do this?

Thanks,

Kim

I do this sort of work professionally. I have all the colors, products and skills to do this. I can do an average kitchen in a day and it would cost about $400, more or less, depending on the number of cabinets and the amount of damage.

>> I am not soliciting your business Newer kitchens can have a two part finish that doesn't take other finishes well. A professional can determine this.

Using products like "Restore-a-Finish," in my opinion, do some light cleaning, but are temporary fixes. The times I've used it, a month later, there was little change.

What I would not do is "slap on some poly," as what is on there is almost certainly not polyurethane and other things will bond better.
