Fiberglass window not plumb, how to fix?

sandrose_2August 9, 2010

I had three Marvin Integrity All-Ultrex (all fiberglass) windows installed. One of them bows inward on one side (vertical). The instructions say do NOT screw through the fiberglass!

I intended to install shims every foot or so, and then insert screws. What to do?? I was going to do the same on both sides of all three windows so they would look uniform.

Seems to me if you had defective windows, you'd have the guy who installed them take them out and return them for ones that aren't bowed.

Do they have the factory applied extension jambs or the standard 2" jambs?

I installed one of these integrity windows in my house. If the fiberglass is truly bowed then I am sure that Marvin would come out and replace for you.

I had a few minor issues with my window and they came out and replaced the entire sash in 5 mins.

It would be hard for me to believe the way the window was installed would cause the fiberglass to bend. Those windows are solid and light.
