Ottawa, Canada: passing through the top of the panel

cfvhMarch 18, 2013

I am in Ottawa, Canada. I have a panel set up where it would be easiest to pass the stove feeder, and maybe even the dryer, through the top of the panel. Given that this is beside the live feeders to the panel from the utility, is this allowed or not? Thanks...

These aren't feeders but just branch circuits. There's no prohibition on coming in from any side.

Sorry about the terminology mix-up, I was on the phone regarding this and writing the message at the same time. Thank you!

By the way, just to be doubly sure, this is allowed by the CEC, not the NEC, in Ontario, correct?

A Canadian panel has a separate section divided from the rest of the panel for the feeder cables from the POCO.
You are permitted to pass branch circuits through the section of the panel containing feeder cables from the POCO.

The last message came out wrong.

You are NOT permitted to pass branch circuits through the feeder section.
