Roll down shutters/can they be hidden in the frame?

DrewPAugust 21, 2009

I lived in Germany and every place I lived in had roll down shutters which when open were hidden in the frame of the home. In the states I have seen roll down shutters that have a box above the window to contain them when they are rolled up.

Questions: Is there anyway possible to change the framing in order for the shutter box to be hidden?

Says this can be done with new construction. But I need ideas as my home is already built.

Thanks
