To all my contractor friends..How much flexibility is there in a quote you give a customer? I finally found someone I really like with a good product to install my windows (after numerous estimates) but his quote was just a little out of financial reach (plus he's throwing in an upgraded option).. Is bargining a norm when giving/receiving quotes or is the quoted price what most people pay? I just don't want to insult him, I know everyone is trying to make a living... Thanks for all input...

Some contractors will give you a high quote, expecting you to negotiate and others will give you their very best price the first time. Often consumers try and buy high quality windows for the same price as the cheaper ones. If you really want the better windows, you may have to adjust your budget instead of expecting the contractor to adjust his.
