Window manufacturer

mandragoranJuly 19, 2014

I have some old casement windows which are rotting out at the bottom rail.
They have an etching on the top right "H-b" or "d-H" depending which side of the window you look in.

Does anyone know who the manufacturer could be?

Thank you

Try a picture of the window frame or from a bit further back.

Have you been able to locate any other identification numbers?

The likely reality is is that if they are that old, they are likely not available and if you are going to try to salvage them, you are going to have to take them to a custom mill work shop.

OK, I thought the etch mark is the holy grail of identification, But maybe they are a less common brand.
Here are some frame images:
I think I could replicate them, but it would be labor intensive.

I am not really worried about saving the windows, but I would like to keeping the frames intact.

Is that marking on the window itself or the glass? Approximate age? Aluminum clad over wood (appears to be)? Is there a brand name ob the hardware (crank or hinge arms)? Are the clips holding the grille or window divider plastic? Why are you looking for the manufacturer for parts or new window?

Look inside the jambs. There should be something in there to ID it.

Looks a bit like a Hurd window.

My thoughts were Vetter or Crestline Eric.

Thank you very much!
If there was ever anything on the jambs they are gone now.
