Multi-point latch for 4-Panel Door; sealing or security?

dwpcJuly 8, 2009

We have a ten foot slider and are replacing it with a 4-panel Alum clad wood door, either Jeldwen Siteline or Eagle. I would appreciate comments on the multi-point latch option; the one with multiple latches on the sealing edges between the doors. Is this going going to help the seal between the sliding doors long term or is it just for security?

Both the multipoint shootbolts will pull the door in tighter giving you a better seal and also since it latches at several spots tougher to break in, but mainly weather tightness
