Dust collectors

yumpinFebruary 6, 2009

I am in the market for a dust collector I have a 30x12 wood shop table saw router table planer miter saw and a sanding station. What type of system does anyone recomend. also most people say run 6" wondering if 4" would be fine? I am looking at steel city 1.5 1 micron bag, anyone have this unit , and how is it?

A larger diameter system will be more effective---the 4" will work, but a 6" will work better.

Use a chip seperator(30 gallon can with an adapter lid). That allows the big stuff to fill the more easily emptied can before the DC bag.

Keep the distance between machine and DC as short as possible---and use 45 degree adapters instead of 90 degree.

I have a Grizzly 2hp machine---can hook up 3 different machines at once. It has a huge filter and a plastic collector bag.

Steel City was started by folks who got laid off/let go from Delta---the equip, emt is quite good as a rule.
