Making furniture from Crepe Myrtle wood

emxryJanuary 3, 2006

Last year I bought a flower holder that looked like a bench. The legs, the backing were made of mountain laurel and there is a lot of it here in Virginia. However, I wanted to replicate that bench and use branches from crepe myrtle trees because they are so beautiful. Has anyone ever used crepe myrtle branches and/or wood?

Yes, I've made a decorative wheel barrow for garden decor. Generally, one can't get enough "lumber" from crepe Myrtle to warrant planning any significant project. No one bothers to mess with pruned limbs or such.
