Old daybed: cross post from furniture

harpendJanuary 21, 2013

I am trying to decide what to do with a daybed I made for my daughter 35 years ago when she graduated from her crib. It has a polyurethane foam mattress on 3/4" plywood and it is terrible uncomfortable.

Is it possible to order couch springs in custom sizes? The plywood is 30" by 73.5", not a standard size. If so is it worthwhile? Otherwise off to the landfill.

I would not send it to the landfill! Did you know you can have mattresses made in custom sizes? Check the sizes already made to see if one would fit. I think Cot size is the width... Memory foam type mattresses are easier to cut down yourself to the size you need. Or an upholster can use the thick foam to make the seating.

If all else fails, you could put it on
